Cordyceps History & Fun Facts

History & Fun Facts

Cordyceps is native to most continents except for Africa and Antartica. However, it has long been coveted in Asia and traditional Chinese herbalism.

This genus is entomopathogenic and propagates itself by parasitizing various insects. Cordyceps militaris commonly does this on hawk moths or other butterfly pupae and beetles. Due to modern innovations, Cordyceps militaris can now be cultivated without the use of insects.

How It Grows

Cordyceps grows in the wild in deciduous and mixed forests.

We prepare our Cordyceps from dried whole mycelial biomass and fruiting body of Certified Organic Cordyceps militaris that are inoculated and grown in our indoor cultivation facility in Washington, at the edge of the lush Olympic National Forest near the Olympic Mountain range. We use Certified Organic brown rice, grown in California, as the growth medium.

Beta Glucans

We’re Big on Beta-Glucans

Did you know beta-glucans are the primary beneficial constituents in mushrooms? It’s true! And one of the reasons why we include Reishi in all our Mushroom Wellness products is because it’s so high in beta-glucans.

Each serving of Cordyceps Blend with Reishi capsules offers a verified minimum 8% or 86 mg of beta-glucans.
