Training Herbalists for the Future
Herb Pharm offers the internationally renowned Herbaculture Program on our 85-acre
organic herb farm in southern Oregon. This is an intensive educational program
that teaches the cultivation, harvest and use of medicinal herbs.
Dates of Program
The 2010 Herbaculture Program will consist of three separate sessions:
SPRING SESSION: March 24th - June 3rd
SUMMER SESSION: June 16th - August 26th
FALL SESSION: September 8th – November 18th
Hands-On Herbal Experience
Students spend an average of 32 hours per week participating in the cultivation and harvest of over 80 different medicinal herbs grown on the farm, and in the maintenance of our formal 1.5-acre Herbal Education Garden and other landscaped areas. We can accommodate 12-15 students each session. This is a very physically and mentally demanding program. It is essential that students be in good physical condition and mentally prepared to work, study and live in community with up to 14 other like-minded individuals from a wide range of educational, cultural and experiential backgrounds.
Classroom Training
In addition to this hands-on experience, our students can expect to spend evenings,
Fridays and most weekend time participating in a wide range of classes, workshops,
and tours covering various aspects of medical Herbalism. These
include botany and plant identification, clinical/therapeutic herbalism, medicine
making, medicinal plant chemistry, nutrition, as well as introductions to various
healing and organic growing systems. Sample
