A Healthy Farm Yields Healthy Herbs
At Herb Pharm we grow most of our herbs on the “Pharm Farm” – our certified organic farm located in a rural valley of the Siskiyou Mountains in southern Oregon. As organic farmers, we never use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, nor do we use genetically modified seeds. Instead, we employ fundamental, time-honored sustainable agriculture techniques including crop rotation, cover cropping, natural weed control such as hand weeding and flame weeding, and composting to condition our soil.

Each year, our farm is inspected and certified as organic by Oregon Tilth. Oregon Tilth is a nonprofit organization supporting and promoting biologically sound and socially equitable agriculture through education, research, advocacy, and certification.

Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) is an internationally recognized symbol of organic integrity. The purpose of organic certification is to ensure that the agreed upon conventions of organic agricultural systems are being practiced not only by growers, but also by all the people who handle and process organic food, feed and fiber on its journey to the consumer. In order to accomplish this, OTCO provides a system that combines strict production standards, on-site inspections, and legally binding contracts to protect the producers and buyers of organic products.

Our environmental commitments also include harvesting wild herbs in a responsible and sustainable manner – what we’ve termed “Custom Wildcrafted™”. Our strict protocols assure proper identification of plant species and optimal time of harvest, and insure conservative harvest yields and habitat protection in order to facilitate conservation of these valuable plants for future generations.
